Summer Feature Artist - Andrea Mueller

Hello all!

With all this bright weather we're having, our minds can't help but drift to the beaches and oceans. Today on our Artist Spotlight, we're featuring a collection from Whistler-based artist, Andrea Mueller, team-builder, art instructor, and one of our favorite contemporary artists.

Andrea's works are instantly recognizable by her use of bold, strong colors, in loose but precisely-placed brushstrokes, and bright, playful realism. Her pieces explore the dynamic between humans, animals, memories, language, belief systems, and the environment, and how one influences the other. One of our favorite collections of hers hails from the sea ("Ocean Dreams") - and we love how it expresses and captures the motion of the ocean, the inextricable connection between waves, water, and its inhabitants.

She Comes in Waves, Acrylic on Canvas, 9x12

She Dreams in Colours, Acrylic on Wood, 6x6

In addition to painting, Andrea also offers team-building and small group workshops up in Whistler. In her sessions, groups are lead up the mountain, to completely absorb the energy of  the outdoors that so infuses in her art - whether it be among the forests, or by a base of a waterfall. Her energy is also very infectious and absolutely inspiring!

Tao, Acrylic on Canvas, 12x12

Magic in the Sea, Acrylic on Canvas 24x48

These are just the beginning of our favorite pieces from her! Have a favourite? Let us know in the comments below! Wish to buy a print? Head on over to Andrea's shop here!

Artist Spotlight: Michael Halbert with his Craft Brewery Artwork

For all you craft beer fans out there, today's post is going to put a little skip in your hop!

Michael Halbert is by far one of my art idols. His specialty is in scratchboard illustration, a process in which the image comes alive through the artist scratching the lines off, revealing the negative space. The amount of detail and precision that is in his work is absolutely mindblowing, and I just had to share and spread the love.

You can find some of his most iconic work on the branding of Vancouver-based craft brewery "Steamworks". Check out his magic below:

Totally amazing!
